Rape Types - Maturity dates are between 90-120 days and will give a normal yield of about 6 tn/kg/dm. Seeds are usually sown in February, because rape goes to seed a lot earlier than other brassicas so timing is critical. Time is needed for potential crop.
Seeds are treated for protection against springtails.

Rape Comments - March/April rape is not recommended as yield is not good enough only viable option is oats/ryecorn for winter grazing. Mixing other seed types to rape i.e. oats must be at low rates as rape struggles to compete.
Sowing rape in damp soil types not recommended, often does not germinate
Mixing small amount of leafy rape variety to grass seed mixes has been very successful without leaving bare patches in grass.
